Green Day’s hit single ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ is about to be suitably patched up as the rock icons are set to receive a star of their own on Hollywood Boulevard.
They will receive a star on May 1st at 11:30am PT. The event will be hosted by TV personality Matt Pinfield, who will hand over to tennis star Serena Williams and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is honored to welcome Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” said Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer. “Green Day’s music has not only inspired generations but also served as the soundtrack to our lives.”
Green Day have an impressive musical history, which has been recognised time and time again for its success. The band has amassed 12 top-ten albums on the Billboard 200, including three that reached No. 1: American Idiot (2004), 21st Century Breakdown (2009), and Revolution Radio (2016).
Green Day most recently performed for over 200,000 people at the Coachella festival in 2025, using their set to show support for Palestine by changing the lyrics to their hit song ‘Jesus of Suburbia’. The trio also altered the lyrics of ‘American Idiot’ to poke fun at Donald Trump. They will also be headlining Riot Fest in Chicago in September along with Weezer and Blink-182.
The band’s star is located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, adjacent to Amoeba Music. The event will be streamed live on the Walk of Fame’s website.
This will be the 2810th star ceremony since the tourist attraction opened in 1960. Actress Joanne Woodward was the very first celebrity to receive a star.
