Comedian Nate Bargatze has been confirmed as the host of the 2025 Emmy Awards. Bargatze, who was the highest-grossing stand-up comedian of 2024 in the United States, will take the reins for the 77th iteration of the Awards.
In a statement, Bargatze said: “It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world.”
The organisers had high praise for the comedian. “Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe,” said Television Academy chair Cris Abrego in a statement.
Abrego continued: “We are thrilled to be able to leverage his one-of-a-kind perspective to entertain TV fans watching this year’s Emmy telecast.”
This will be Bargatze’s first time hosting a major awards show. Last year, Eugene and Dan Levy hosted the 2024 Emmys as a father-son duo on ABC.
Bargatze has a Netflix show called The Great Average American. His comedy shows sold more than 1.2 million tickets worldwide in 2024. He has hosted Saturday Night Live twice, therefore, he is no stranger to the difficulties of presenting in front of a room of celebrities.
This year’s ceremony will take place on September 14th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. It will air live on CBS and Paramount+. Nominations are set to be announced on July 15th, with Severance and The White Lotus expected to dominate proceedings, despite the speculation regarding behind-the-scenes controversy on the set of the latter.
